On September 23, 2026 Mrs. Rose and six junior students in Spanish III attended the 2nd annual UNK Foreign Language Day held at the Nebraska Student Union in Kearney.  The students spent the day in several mini sessions being educated by UNK foreign language professors and UNK students.  For example, this year they learned some French, watched folk dances, and made crafts.

This event is similar to the UNL foreign language day that students attend, but smaller and allows for more in depth interaction.  Students are encouraged to continue their education pursuing a second language to provide opportunities in their future careers.

The highlight for the students was definitely the food, but more importantly receiving first place in the poster contest!  This is the first year since attending Foreign Language Days that Amherst has won a competition.

“I am very proud of them with their work and realizing the places they will go with knowledge of a second language!”  Mrs. Rose

Congratulations Mrs. Rose and Amherst Spanish III students!
