Driver’s Education Opportunity for Amherst Students

Students from Amherst Public School will have the opportunity to participate in an upcoming Driver’s Education course this spring. The program is designed to help students develop safe driving skills and gain the knowledge needed to become responsible drivers.

The Driver’s Education class will be held Tuesday through Friday, May 26–29, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Classes for Amherst and SEM students will take place at SEM Public School District in 2026.

A Parent Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 26 at 8:00 a.m. to provide families with important information about the course, expectations, and driving requirements.

Students will also participate in a Range Day in Kearney on Friday, May 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., where they will practice driving skills in a controlled environment. SEM will provide transportation to and from Kearney on that day.

The course is offered through University of Nebraska at Kearney Driver’s Education program.
